Intel and Advanced Micro Devices are now building more powerful computer chips that will give off less heat than they do currently. Though it seems like a computer chip should not heat up that much, most of the 100 watts of energy that go to a computer chip is actually converted to heat, much like a 100-watt light bulb. Unfortunately, all this heat energy is wasted.
However, the new generation of processors will actually be two chips in one, allowing them to work faster than current chips. By splitting up the processing load, the chips can run more efficiently and give off less excess heat.
